Game Fishing from Richards Bay

The warm Agulhas Current flowing south along the KZN coast passes relatively close inshore north of Richards Bay, bringing exceptional game fishing opportunities for marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna and other pelagic species. The proximity of these fishing grounds to Richards Bay — compared to ports further south like Durban — makes it a preferred base for serious game fishing operations.

Proximity to iSimangaliso and Sodwana Bay

The iSimangaliso Wetland Park — South Africa's first World Heritage Site — is accessible by boat from Richards Bay, with the St Lucia Estuary and its extraordinary wildlife offering unforgettable experiences. Sodwana Bay, renowned for some of the world's southernmost coral reef diving, is a short distance north. Vessels making the coastal passage to Sodwana require appropriate offshore cover and must be equipped for the conditions.
